The trophy asset of Manzana de la Concordia, reading Catalonia’s cultural DNA in the language of architecture. Europe’s highest artificial waterfall falls forty metres through its heart, fed by harvested rain and powered by the sun. Two hundred trees thread through the structure. In the rock-cavern lobby, a seven-metre Bac de Roda stands with a living flame at his chest.

The House of the Flying Trees. Behind a restored 1881 façade lies a hidden world of levitating bonsai forests — an Art Nouveau monument and a contemporary volume held in quiet dialogue, in the heart of UNESCO-listed Riga. The jewel is not worn on the façade; only those who live here ever see it.

Two towers raised in honour of Johann Gottfried Herder and Johann Georg Hamann, the eighteenth-century philosophers who once lived and worked on this ground — their silhouette a stack of books. Lifted high on columns, they keep Old Riga in view from the Philosophers’ Alley below. At their heart, a library of 2,500 volumes beneath a fourteen-metre ceiling. Philosophy, Plutarch wrote, is the art of living.
